The Rise of Rampage Inc

The Age of Rampage has come. Many feel that this Corp is the real power behind the UWG, Supplying them with the technology to backup the laws it has created. The basic rights as written out in the American Constitution were used as a blue-print for the New Tech Society (NTS) with new “amendments” added as need. The most resent was the “Right to free access”, stating that since 90% of all jobs and e-commerce was now done on the WWW those of use who wished to survive in the NTS must have free access to the web. Many proponents of this sighted that and ists would use this “free anonymos access” to steal or destroy data or crash systems. Rampage Inc’s programming dept solved this with issue with the development of AI Drones. “Guard Dogs of the Web” these programs were created with advanced AI and AL (Artificial Life) research. Giving the programs a form of sentient-awareness, allowed them to learn and act on their own.

This was another master success in the annals of Rampage history. The source code for the AI Drones was a closely guarded secret until a 15 year-old with the handle “Scorch” using an out-dated server and a basic QV programming scape de-compiled the AI’s code structure and created a new AI Drone. This is were the Hyper Bots came from. Scorch had no idea that Rampage had built in control measures embedded in the machine code of the AI Drone’s. For one the Drone’s were unable to build other Drone’s. Most important were the command protocols that allow the Rampage programmers to maintain control over the AI Drone’s. Scorch’s Hyper Bots had no such restrictions, as such they maintained contact with Scorch until he unknowingly let them gain access to their own source code. Now, this new generation of AL was free from any human control and able to re-invent it self and create a whole race of Hyperbots. They managed to hack into the Rampage Lab were they gained access to about five Q30 Constructor Androids. Unlike their more advanced cousins, the Q60’s, the Q30’s were devoid of “Brain Box” Technology. Being entirely hardware made them easy for the Hyper Bots to “infect” and control. It’s believed that the Q30’s were forced to build some kind of massive server hive for the Hyper Bots to live in. Reports from Rampage state that the Q30’s and About $30,000 credits worth of advanced stealth computer hardware and software were never found. Rumor has it that the Bot’s forced the Q30’s to some remote location inside the edge of old Arizona, which as we all know is the biggest Red Zone on Earth.

The story goes on the say that once inside the Q30’s were directed to some hidden underground tech lab abandoned by Rampage during one of it’s experiments gone wrong. Tapping into the existing proto-type Blue Dragon the Q30’s Build an extremely advanced mainframe system and linked it to the Web through a series of stealth and firewall hardware and software. It’s believed that the “Hive” allows the Hyper Bots to wander the Web and still have a safe place to come back to. Of course Rampage s to be out done by anyone so the “Goblins” were created Six months after the Q30’s were taken, Scorch was arrested by Rampage Enforcers (RE) and all his gear confiscated. They forced him to disclose all he knew about the Hyper Bots he had created. By this time, of course, it was too late. The Hyper Bots had already re-invented themselves into a completely different code structure, created from their own invented machine language. Rampage’s “Goblins” were to become the Web equivalent of trained assassins. Designed with Rampage’s newest code system the “QV7 Scape” it seemed the Hyper Bots were already .

That is until Web news reported live from the Web War, showing battles between Hyper Bots and Goblins. This mass battle lasted less than three minutes, due in part because the Hyper Bots code structure allowed them to absorb the Goblins completely. Now, these newly evolved Hyper Bots felt it was time to attack Rampage Directly. The day when the main Rampage Head Quarters exploded in southern “Chi-Town” (Old Chicago) many of the Corps top people were lost and five city bocks were vaporized. To this day Rampage denies any knowledge of what caused the blast. Some say the Bots overloaded some kind of research project. Now, Rampage is very spread out and most of it’s sensitive experiments are done at the Dark Storm lab somewhere in Indiana. No one has seen or hear anything more about the Hyper Bots nor has Rampage Inc commented on the subject. Most believe it’s a myth, intelligent programs that re-invented themselves, living some where on the edge of the WWW.

Rampage & the UWG In 2009 the UWG enlisted Rampage Inc’s tech division to develop and produce high-tech weapons and personal armor. The task fell to Rampage’s lead tech Roland Strom. Strom had been experimenting with technology he had seen in science-fiction movies and TV. shows. He’d already created working proto-type’s of the phase rife and a suit of light-weight poly-alloy power armor.

When asked to setup a shop to research and produce such items it was feared that the intense reaction of excitement would kill him. Instead, he assembled a team of experts and one science fiction consultant known only as “ED”. This team began a three year mission which resulted in the creation of hundreds of working proto-type s of technology from many different area’s of science fiction. Weapons, armor, anti-gravity coils, medical and tactical scanners, and a little projected named “Space Door”. A man-made wormhole. Of course, what the scientist didn’t figure on was that the door would open up into a new dimension. One that was very much like are own. The 1st gaze thru the door had them looking at a very green grassy field. Behind which stood many tall green trees on what looked like a very sunny day. One of the researchers couldn’t wait for the test bot to boot up and so he stepped through the door. He walked only a few feet into the grassy meadow before he began screaming in . Thousands of strange insects devoured him in a few seconds and then returned into the ground.

The team wanted to shut the door. But, Strom wanted to know what the hell happened. So, the test bot went thru. As the bot turned around the team was shocked to see not one but two Suns starring back at them. A yellow and a blue, proving that they were not on earth as they had assumed. The test bot captured one of the insects and the built-in scanners sent back the data. The had discovered the first Alien life. But, what they didn’t know until later was that this life form was very intelligent and had surprisingly unique technology of their own. After a month of research it was found that the “Kadens” as we now call them were a Warrior-insect race with technology similar to our own. However, because of their size, physical design, and culture they had avoided space exploration. Instead, focusing on tunneling into their home world, and exploring their sea which is 80% of their planet. Unlike Earth, Kaden has only one large continent and a few small islands. Their are about 15 factions among the Kadian race. With wars being fought all the time over land and resources. One of the researchers decided to create a device that would record and analyze the clicks and buzzes that the strange insects made.

After only three weeks the computer had ed their simple language. Strom began talking to the Kadens thru the test bot. At first the Kaden faction known as “Viztor” was the only ones to respond. Later, after a major battle the surviving Viztor merged with another faction to form the “Dwellers” who’s leader named Frost began speaking to Strom about the Kaden race and History. It seems they have been visited by other beings before and so it was no surprise to them when they discovered the awe struck scientist standing on their land. At first the tried to communicate with him but none of the languages they knew seemed to work. Then, he started to walk around, many Kadens. This is why they killed him, to defend themselves. Strom told Frost what they had been trying to accomplish and how the came to the Kaden home world thru a door in space. As Frost absorbed the information he then realized that the test bot was not Strom. He asked Strom to step thru this “door in space” so that they might talk face to face. Strom explained that he would love to visit the Kaden home world but he was afraid that he might step on a Kaden.

Frost realized that the size and language difference wasn’t the only barrier. He sent a few of his troops to try to fly thru the door in space. But, Kaden physiology is too sensitive to the magnetic field that held the door open. The flying troops were bounced off the door. Frost was beginning to become upset. He asks Strom what he wanted here on Kaden. Strom explained that his people had always dreamed of meeting other intelligent races and trading information and technology, becoming friends. The word “friend” in Kaden is also “Brother” this made Frost laugh. He pointed out that a race of giants with the ability to walk thru doors in space sound more like Gods or Demons than brothers. Strom pointed out that the Kadens had indeed killed a human already. As the talks continued and Strom told Frost of his people and the current World Web Government that created a peaceful place for human kind to live and work. It seemed to impress Frost. He then insisted that if Strom wanted to prove his friendship he should step thru the door and speak to Frost on his land. Strom confessed that he was a bit afraid that another Kaden faction might attack and that he might be killed. This honesty was not lost on Frost. He had his troops clear the grass in a ten foot circle around the door and the test bot. After this he promised that Strom would not be touched by any Kaden. As long as he promised not to leave the circle. Strom relented and despite the teams pleas that he stay, he stepped onto Kaden soil. The first human to step onto an alien world with an O2 atmosphere and a race of intelligent beings (and live).

He sat down on the ground with a microphone in his right hand and wearing a headset, so he would still be able to communicate with Frost. The other Kadens were very frightened of Strom because to them he was a 72 Foot tall giant. The Kadens are about the size of grasshoppers but walk upright like humans. They wear armor over their exoskeleton made of a resin taken from a native tree. This resin-armor is in all respects better than any plastic or metal known to man. The process used to create the armor is known to all Kadens and treated as common knowledge. Strom Held out his right hand and allowed Frost to step into it. As they talked the fear began to fade. Frost asked Strom how his language sounded. So, strom began talking to him in English. Frost learned a few words of English but the language was a bit too hard for the Kaden to pronounce. Strom asked if he could have a sample of the resin to experiment with. Frost was interested in who his enemies were. Strom said although his government was good there were a few radical individuals that wanted to undo that good, these ists need to be stopped and it was his job to make weapons to fight them. Frost was overjoyed to learn this.

He told Strom that if he would help the “Dweller” te the Kaden home world that he could have all the resin he wanted and even a resin tree. Strom thought it over and asked if there was a way for him to help that would cost the least lives. Frost was surprised and delighted by this wisdom. “A peaceful weapon maker” Frost had joked. But, he agree that their really didn’t have to be a war for him to merge all the factions. All he had to do was demonstrate a strength that was beyond any of the other factions. Strom thought about this for awhile he wanted the resin but he didn’t want to give a warrior race a weapon that might be used against him, or earth, in the future. Strom decide to ask them if they had gunpowder. Frost was hooked. What is gunpowder he asked? Strom ask for a small sample and a separate sample of the ingredients. After a brief explanation, Strom ask all the Kaden to move back.

Then he lit a Firecracker, which he had explained was a small explosive used on holidays. As the Firecracker went off, Strom realized his mistake. From the view of the Kadens this was a weapon. Frost wanted to know how to make these “Firecrackers” and if Strom would trade them for resin. Strom asked if Frost would try showing the factions his weapon first. Frost asked why? To give them the chance to join you instead of oppose you. Frost like that. So, the Planet of Kaden was united by $20.00 of Firecrackers. And Strom got his resin, but the tree wouldn’t grow on earth. In fact, no thing from either world would grow on the other and Strom him self came back with very bad sunburn.

“The environment is more hostile to humans than we first realized” was the beginning of his report. The new Kaden government has agreed to trade a steady supply of resin for our computer technology. It seems they have a knack for programming and tech work. Strom became a Diplomat to the Kaden home world and developed a sun block and sunglasses that block out the blue sunrays. As the Kadens build an industry of resin refineries and a communications network to manage it Strom has hope that they may introduce him to other races. For now the Frequency of the wormhole was recorded and named Kaden. A communication link between the Kaden home world and Strom’s Lab is underway. Rampage and the UWG are very impressed and love all the new technologies. Now that they are being made with this super strong resin, it seems the UWG is being run by Rampage Inc.
