Splicers

This was originally a side project to combine soldiers with animal DNA to create hybrids that had better senses, natural weapons, and more strength. Somehow a few members of the dejected underground sub-culture called “Moths” gained access to splicing research and equipment and spread splicing like a new fad. At first it came out as minor cosmetic changes like snake or cat eyes.

Though they looked different they didn’t change the owner’s vision in anyway. Slowly the Moths experimented over a few years and began giving people snake skin, leopard print skin spots, claws, enhanced strength, better vision, better hearing, and speed.

The lab that created splicing sent out their own agents to track down the thieves and stop the spread of their research. Of course by then it had become too late. The Moths were a distributed group of geniuses who had become dissatisfied with the current cultural and political situation. They had spread the knowledge through underground web sites and transmitting through other electronic means.

The agents of the lab eventually found the thieves and were ordered to silence them. However, what they found where that the thieves had spliced themselves and one was part lion while the other was part bull. The agents fought the spliced thieves and where unprepared for the onslaught that ensued. Those agents were never seen again.

The UWG had an online consensus about weather or not splicing should be illegal. Most of those who knew enough to post replies where either spliced themselves or planning on doing it. Over the course of a month the issue was hotly debated and in the end it was considered to fall under the freedom of lifestyle choice which was protected under UWG law.

Splicing was still not without risks as some people who under went the treatment suffered mutations and/or died from the transformative process. Over the years the process has improved and anyone with the courage and money can get spliced. The high-end shops will even “backup” your current DNA and store it in a cryogenic freezer incase you want to reverse the process. To this day no one knows the name or location of the group who created splicing.

Players

You may choose a base class and add the Splicer template to it to gain those benefits. There limits to the process and so you may only pick one animal to splice with. If you pay extra for the DNA back up mutation effect and/or other DNA targeting weapons will only remove your splice and return you to a normal human, instead of turning you into a mindless monster or killing you out right.
